Eco Sparky installs photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on to your roof. These types of solar panels are made using layers of semi-conducting materials to convert sunlight into a direct electrical current.
Eco Sparky installs an inverter in your loft, which is connected to the solar panels. This inverter will convert the energy generated by the sunlight from direct current to alternating current, as this is the current that powers your household mains. Your solar generated energy can then be used to power your lighting and appliances.
It then just takes one single cable for Eco Sparky to connect the inverter to your consumer unit. This is also where we’ll also fit the meter that shows you how much electricity you’re generating, so you can see how much you’re earning!
Quick summary
So…. the sunlight generates DC energy, the inverter converts it to AC
energy, the AC energy is then either used to power your household lights
and appliances or is fed back into the National Grid. More electricity
will be generated on very sunny days, but even the smallest amount of
daylight will produce some results.
Because there are no moving parts, the technology is very robust and reliable and doesn’t require any regular maintenance. Once it’s fitted, you can forget about it!
